Bibi Makes Sandwiches is an activity book that invites readers to explore paper, shapes, and food. It also plays with visual perception: if you call a green rectangle lettuce, it becomes lettuce, just as a red triangle becomes a strawberry.
Colours become ingredients to cut or tear out and put together, with each sandwich shown alongside its paper ingredients. A pantry of colours at the end lets readers keep inventing their own.
It is published in Italy by:
Raum Italic (Italian, Italy)
Smith Street Books (World English)
The Italian publisher decided to print the book using three types of leftover stock paper, inspired by the idea of "leftovers" in the kitchen to adopt an eco-friendly approach.
Awards
• Illustrations won with a SOI Gold Medal. They inspired Kitt Bunny Pony to create fabrics and products based on them.
• IBBY Italia Choice 2025
